Echoes of the Sacred Path* is not merely an ode to history, but a living meditation on shared cultural memory—tracing the intertwined legacies of the Pala and Sailendra dynasties. The work reflects on a time when Bengal stood as a vital confluence of trade, knowledge, and spiritual exchange. Through its rivers—the Ganga and Brahmaputra—and its thriving ports, ideas traveled as fluidly as goods, connecting the Indian subcontinent to Southeast Asia. These journeys carried with them not only commerce, but philosophies, aesthetics, and ways of seeing the world. Rooted in the sculptural and terracotta traditions of Bengal, shaped by the influence of Gupta classicism, the work draws from a lineage that once defined the visual and spiritual language of Buddhist art across regions. It gestures toward the architectural brilliance of Nalanda Mahavihara and the Great Borobudur Temple monuments that now stand weathered, yet continue to echo an enduring grammar of form, devotion, and knowledge. Within the sculpture, these histories are not reconstructed, but re imagined—held together as fragments of continuity. It becomes a space where time folds into itself, where erosion and endurance coexist, and where the sacred is both remembered and reinterpreted.
A table emerges as a meeting ground—where these worlds converge, and conversations begin.
Here, tradition and contemporary practice sit across from each other, not in opposition, but in dialogue. Each surface carries layers of memory, intervention, and response.
This is not merely an object.
It is a "Jugalbandi"
where time speaks to itself.
